Well it was the first quiz night to be held indoors due to the end of summer...yes we even have cool winters here in Crete.
Once again it was a very close run quiz night and thank you to everyone who turned up. The full breakdown of the results are:
Just The Two Of Us - 53 points
Brain Dead and Kangaroos - 52 points (tied for second)
D and J - 51 points
2+2 - 50 points
Nameless - 47 points
Scouse - 37 points
If only the 'Kangaroos' hadn't changed a few of their correct answers then they would have won again! A brave effort from Team Scouse at their first quiz but unfortunately the local teams were too good for them this week.
The envelope draw was in its eleventh week, that meant just two envelopes were left and the draw MUST finish.
The main prize fund had rolled over to huge and jaw dropping 450 euros. With just two envelopes left there was a choice for the raffle ticket holder to take a guaranteed 50% of the pot or take the gamble and possible lose it all. Tensions were high as the raffle draw took place, our lucky winner was having none of it.
'Give me the envelopes' was his cry.
The crowd were shocked, a gamble on the last two envelopes. Could he be lucky...would it roll over...only a few seconds more to know the outcome.
Confidently an envelope was picked and after a little struggle, the seal was broken. Shouts of 'Good Luck' and 'Go for it' reverberated throughout the bar as the ticket was unfolded.
'CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE WON THE MAIN PRIZE'- softly said but the bar erupted. With 450 euros in his palm a round of drinks was bought for everyone at the bar, a great gesture that was greatly appreciated by all.
Next week the envelope draw starts again. The immediate prize is already at 40 euros before any tickets (still just 50c each) have been sold. There are even more prizes in the new draw.
As well as the main prize there are 5 other consolation prizes to be won. This means that straight away there is a 50% chance of winning a prize from the draw.
A big thankyou to everyone who has made the quiz nights and the envelope draw a big hit at Fazakerleys. Hope to see you next week at the quiz and afterwards for the draw.
